“Cheap Website” – or How to Fail Before You Even Start

„Billige Website“ – oder wie man scheitert, bevor man anfängt

A quick Google search is enough to find pages full of offers such as “affordable website creation” or “website with SEO in 7 days at a fixed price”. At first glance these offers are very tempting – especially for start-ups and small businesses with a limited budget. But behind this temptation lies a costly trap.

What Is Behind These Offers?

With ready-made WordPress templates, a visually appealing website can indeed be put together in a few days. But the decisive question is not “How quickly can a website be built?” but: “Will this website be found on Google, and will it generate customers and revenue?” The honest answer to that question is, unfortunately: No.

Why Not?

A website that works as a genuine marketing tool is the result of a complex, multi-stage process. All the decisive steps are systematically skipped in “bargain offers”:

  • Market analysis and competitor research – Without knowing what your competitors are doing and what your target audience is searching for, any SEO strategy is ineffective.
  • Keyword research – Which terms do potential customers really search for? This foundation is completely missing in quick fixes.
  • Technical code optimisation – Clean HTML code, a correct heading hierarchy, fast loading times and mobile optimisation are time-consuming tasks that require expertise.
  • Content strategy and copywriting – Texts that appeal to people and are optimised for search engines cannot be written in a matter of hours.
  • On-page SEO implementation – Meta tags, OG tags, sitemap, structured data, internal linking – all tasks that require time, experience and care.

What About the Promised SEO Optimisation?

Installing an SEO plugin such as Rank Math or Yoast SEO is not SEO optimisation – at best it represents 10% of the overall process. The plugin merely provides the technical fields in which SEO-relevant information can be entered. The actual optimisation work – code changes in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, image optimisation, copywriting, keyword implementation, loading speed optimisation, internal linking strategies – is a complex, time-intensive process that cannot possibly be carried out properly in 5–7 days.

Anyone who claims otherwise is either deliberately misleading you or does not know what professional SEO optimisation involves.

The Hidden Costs of Cheap Websites

What looks inexpensive at first glance often turns out to be costly: you pay for a website that nobody finds. Every month without organic traffic is a month of lost customers and revenue. Sooner or later you will either have to invest in expensive rework or start again from scratch – with a reputable provider. In the end the total cost far exceeds what a professional solution would have cost from the start.

Conclusion

If you do not want a website that is visited only by acquaintances who know the direct link, then invest in professional web design and SEO services. A website is a marketing tool – and like any tool, it has to be built by professionals in order to do its job. Do not be fooled by tempting low-cost offers that end up costing more than they save.
